The fate of a man who burned his wife and her brother to death in Lagos will be known on February 27th.
A Lagos State High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) has reserved judgment until February 27, 2025 in the case of a 50-year-old man, Benjamin Ogudoro, who allegedly burnt his wife and brother-in-law to d3ath.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the judgment, scheduled for February 13, before Justice Sherifat Sonaike, could not be read due to reasons that were not disclosed.
The judgment was postponed by Sonaike to February 27th.
On December 7, 2022, the Lagos State Government arraigned Ogundoro on a four-count charge that is close to murd3r.
The prosecution alleged that the defendant killed his wife, Chinyere, who had just returned from Scotland, and her brother, Ifeanyi, an only son, by setting them ablaze.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on April 1, 2022, around 3:30 am at House 5, Zone 7, Oteyi Garden Estate, Abule Ado, in the Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos.
According to the state, the defendant poured gasoline onto his wife, brother-in-law, and mattress and set them on fire while they were asleep.
The prosecution alleges that the alleged offenses were in violation of Sections 223 and 341 of the criminal code of Lagos State, 2015.
