The disappearance of Anambra billionaire Benjamin Ezemma led to the arraignment of three individuals.

In Anambra State, three individuals have been charged with the disappearance of billionaire businessman Benjamin Ezemma, commonly known as BigBen.

Since November 12, 2024, Ezemma, who co-founded Dubai Estate in Anambra, has been absent.

The defendants, identified as Ozo Jeff Nweke, Nwokoye Tochukwu, and David Chukwuemeka, were charged under suit number AWK/6c/2025.

The two-count charge charged the defendants with conspiring to abduct and kidnap Ezemma during court proceedings.

The presiding judge, Justice Ike Ogu, heard their pleas for not guilty.

Ozo Nweke, a well-known figure in Awka, was represented by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Alex Ajesieme, while OL Udemezue and AO Onyekachi represented the second and third defendants, respectively.

A deputy director from the Ministry of Justice was responsible for prosecuting the case.

Court received the first defendant from a hospital in Enugu, and the second defendant has been detained since November 2024.

The third defendant is still on the run.

A private doctor was requested by the prosecution to assess the health status of the first defendant, while the second defendant's counsel sought bail, which the prosecution opposed.

The status quo should be kept by Justice Ike Ogu, who ruled that the first and third defendants should be free while the second defendant is in custody.

The case was adjourned to March 7, 2025 for a full hearing.
