The 19-year-old secondary school graduate committed suicide in Ogun weeks after his mother's death.
Sunday Moses, a 19-year-old secondary school graduate, is rumored to have died in Afio Village, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.
On Monday, February 10, 2025, Moses was discovered hanging from a tree in an isolated and rocky part of the village.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident to Punch on Wednesday stated that a police report from the Olugbo Outstation revealed that Moses’ mother had d!ed just weeks earlier and had yet to be buried in their hometown of Oju LGA, Benue State
PPRO claims that the deceased told his brother, John Egbe, to find a place with better network reception to make a call.
Early on February 10, 2025, the deceased departed from their home in Ogungbade Village in search of better network service. He failed to return, and his elder brother, John Egbe, 47, became concerned. He traced him to the location where he made the devastating discovery, as stated by the PPRO.
"Upon receiving the distressing report, police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene. Photographs were taken, and the body was carefully lowered in the presence of family members, who confirmed that no foul play was suspected.
“The family, devastated by the loss, requested that the remains be released for burial by their traditional rites.”
Odutola added that the command had launched an investigation into the incident.
