Students D3ad and others were harmed when a classroom collapsed at Yobe school.

 

A classroom block collapsed at Government Girls Science and Technical College in Potiskum, Yobe State, causing one student to be confirmed dead and several others to sustain varying degrees of injuries.
 
 
Students were trapped under the rubble after the incident that happened at 12 noon on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
 
 
It was reported that the SS1 students were about to take their lunch break before the collapse.
 
 
The victims were quickly rushed to Specialist Hospital Potiskum for medical attention by emergency responders and school officials.
 
 
 
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Bukar Aji, while briefing journalists on the incident, said the injured students are receiving medication at Specialist Hospital in Potiskum.
 
 
Moreover, he clarified that the State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has been contacted to investigate the root cause of the incident and provide a report.
 
 
While sympathizing with the family of the deceased students, as well as the injured students, the Permanent Secretary assured them that the government would always be proactive in maintaining all its structures to forestall further occurrence.
