Porsha Williams, who starred in Real Housewives, spoke out after ex Simon Guobadia was detained by ICE for depotation.
Porsha Williams has spoken out about her estranged husband, Simon Guobadia, who was detained by U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after he was detained.
According to Us Weekly, the 60-year-old Nigerian businessman is currently being detained at Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia.
According to the U.S Department of Homeland Security's records, he is currently in ICE custody.
The 43-year-old Real Housewives of Atlanta star, who is currently in a divorce from Guobadia, posted on Instagram to describe the situation as 'disheartening' after the news.
'It's disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to this outcome. At this moment, my priority is moving forward with my family,' she wrote.
According to a report, the 60-year-old allegedly overstayed his visa when he moved from Nigeria to the United States in 1982. Atlanta's WSB-TV 2 reported that he was declared deportable in 1985.
Guobadia was convicted of bank and credit card fraud in 1987. He was deported to Nigeria in 1992 after being arrested two more times. Nonetheless, he was able to come back a month later.
In 2016, he submitted an application for citizenship. He was denied by the U.S. government because his previous status was granted illegally.
In an effort to become a naturalized citizen, Guobadia has filed multiple complaints and appeals. Despite his efforts, they have not been successful.
The announcement comes as President Donald Trump orders massive deportations of illegal migrants, which he signed off on earlier this year.
The order authorizes the deportation of undocumented immigrants to their country of origin.
In February 2024, he celebrated his life in America, writing on Instagram, 'Happy Tuesday to all who ever overcame and persevered in life. You are winning #42yearsLivinginAmerica.'
Williams filed for divorce from Guobadia in the same month, following almost 15 months of marriage. In November 2022, the two got married.
An ongoing legal battle has been ongoing between the two since then. Williams won a legal victory in September when a judge ruled for her in the case of the former couple's prenuptial agreement.
In November, court documents showed that Williams had been granted temporary sole possession of their marital residence and given her the “unrestricted right to film and produce television, film or social media” in the home.
