Police apprehended a false sergeant on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway

 

Harry Collins, 52 years old, was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for impersonating a police officer while wearing a full police uniform with a sergeant rank.

 

According to CSP Omolola Odutola, the command's spokesperson, the suspect was apprehended on February 20, 2025, at around 2:10 pm during a reconnaissance patrol led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations on the Long Bridge of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Officers on duty became suspicious of Collins' presence at Longbridge and made an immediate arrest.

 

Odutola stated, “Upon interrogation at the station, Collins was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his impersonation, raising further suspicion about his activities. Investigations are ongoing to determine his motives and any potential criminal involvement. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. The Ogun State Police Command warns the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals posing as police officers.”
