A Nigerian man was detained in Thailand for allegedly selling cocaine to tourists
The arrest of a 37-year-old Nigerian man in Phuket, Thailand is a result of him possessing cocaine with the intention of selling it.
Police reported that John Paul, a person identified as John Paul, was arrested at a rented house in Village 11, Thepkrasattri sub district over the weekend.
The joint effort by Phuket Immigration and officers from Thalang Police Station resulted in the February 13, 2025 operation.
Officers took nine plastic bags of cocaine, each with a weight of roughly 0.8 grams, which weighed 7.2 grams during the arrest.
A brown plastic bag filled with drugs was discovered in the suspect's bedroom, which had been wrapped in black tape.
The suspicion was sparked by a report that a foreign man was selling cocaine to tourists in the vicinity.
After conducting surveillance and obtaining information, officers went to the suspect's location early in the day.
John Paul's suspicious behavior was observed upon arrival, leading to the discovery of the drugs.
According to reports, during questioning, the suspect confessed to getting cocaine from a foreign source at Bang Tao Beach and selling it to foreign clients for a profit.
According to him, he paid 2,000 baht for 12 bars of cocaine and then sold them for 3,000 baht each, with some already sold before his arrest.
John Paul is charged with possession of cocaine, a Class 2 drug, and intending to sell it without permission.
His legal rights were explained to him and he was transferred to Thalang Police Station for further legal proceedings.
The police are still investigating to locate more individuals who are involved in this drug network.
