A Nigerian asylum seeker in Ireland was killed by two men who have been arrested.
Two men have been charged with murdering a Nigerian man in Dublin, Ireland.
Shortly before boarding a ferry, one man was arrested in Belfast by the PSNI. Presently, he is being held captive at a police station in Northern Ireland.
As part of their investigation, the Gardai had contacted the PSNI.
Following searches, another man in their 20s was arrested by Gardai in Dublin this morning and held at a station in the Dublin region.
A group of people were believed to have broken out in a small row after a music event in Dublin, where a stabbing attack took place.
There is speculation that the row spilled onto the street before the fatal stabbing happened.
Quam Babatunde was not responding when the gardai arrived on the scene.
He received treatment from emergency services personnel at the scene and was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time after.
The Ballyogan accommodation center in south Dublin was where Babatunde lived while his application for international protection was under review.
The investigations are still ongoing, according to Gardai
According to Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan, he is being briefed by Gardai regarding the incident and believes that Dubliners deserve to feel secure in our city.
“Gardaí have excellent CCTV footage in respect of the incident, I’ve been informed that there were people in a nightclub, a row developed, it developed out onto the street, and that’s where the fatality and violence occurred,” O’Callaghan told RTÉ Radio’s Last Week.
“You’re not allowed to carry knives in Ireland, and we’re not going to allow ourselves to develop into a society where young men are carrying knives, it’s completely unacceptable,” he added.
