A man was able to escape being lynched for allegedly scooping sand from school children's footprints in Kwara.

 


A man escaped lynching after allegedly scooping sand off the footprints of two school children in Adewole community in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

 

According to Daily Trust, the incident occurred in the Mandate Estate vicinity during the school rush hours.

 

A man named Bello was attacked and almost lynched by some residents, but the timely intervention of some passersby saved his life.

 

He was taken away from the community at a later time.

 

“My eyes caught him when he took the sand because I was behind their mother and I was watching to see what he was up to. But he skillfully poured the sand inside his pocket which made me accost him and raised the alarm,” a witness, Mr Ola, claimed.

 

While speaking to the publication, the mother of the two children, who was unaware of the incident until the witnesses intervened, expressed surprise.

 

She urged parents and caregivers to be vigilant for their children.

 

In an interview conducted by Daily Trust at the scene, the suspect, who was unable to explain himself, only stated that he was going to Oko Olowo.
