A detached tyre from a moving car k!lled a pedestrian on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
A tragic accident in Ogun state claimed the life of a pedestrian, Auwalu Abdulkadir, after a detached tyre from a moving vehicle struck him at Kara Under Bridge, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Friday, February 21, 2025.
The accident involved a Kia commercial bus (Reg. No. LAGOS MUS 200 YE), whose driver, yet to be identified, was travelling against the opposite side of the road when one of the vehicle’s tyres pulled out while in motion. The rolling tyre fatally struck Auwalu Abdulkadir, a truck driver from Kano State, who died instantly at the scene.
Newsmen were given confirmation of the incident by CP Omolola Oditola, the spokesperson of the command. The driver of the Kia bus fled the incident and abandoned the vehicle.
‘’Police officers have towed the bus to the police station for safekeeping and further inspection by the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO). Efforts are underway to locate and arrest the fleeing driver.
The heavy presence of policemen was sighted further assisting in clearing obstruction and free flow of traffic , and the body of the deceased has been deposited at Real Divine Touch Mortuary, Ibafo Police officers from Motor Traffic Division (MOTOPOL) responded promptly to the scene, documented evidence, and conducted a preliminary investigation, including taking photographs and drawing a rough sketch map of the accident site.'' he said
To prevent these tragic accidents, the Ogun State Police Command has urged all motorists to comply with traffic regulations and maintain their vehicles properly. As the investigation continues, more updates will be made available.
